When you visit a blog and see a post that’s quite lengthy – I mean paragraph after paragraph of text – do you actually sit there and read it all? From beginning to end?
Be honest. Unless it’s a topic that you’re really, really interested in, you either skim it for important details, or you move onto something that doesn’t take all afternoon to read.
Well, if your blog posts are lengthy (say, 500-600 words or more), you are probably having that same affect on your readers. Just like in advertising, you only have a couple seconds to catch people’s attention. Make it count!
Instead of typing essays, break down long or complicated subjects in easy to understand ways.
- Use numbered lists or bullet points
- Create a series of posts instead of one really long one << This will also give readers a reason to come back to the blog
